Another One of Those Days...But Not.

We did a photo shoot today for our cd cover. Me, Nathaniel, LeeAnna, Elliot, and Joella all piled into rigs loaded with instruments. This is normal. Going to the lake to shoot pics is not usually in the routine, however.
It was cold.
It was great.
A spur-of-the-moment "why not?" led us to Safeway to buy a box of all natural bright red hair dye...which ended up in my hair minutes later.
We did our shoot and went to Subway for dinner, after which we headed downtown to catch our long anticipated flick, To Save A Life. There will be discussion groups for it soon, though I'm not quite sure about the details yet.
The house was decently packed, and the movie turned out better than we had expected.
If you haven't seen it, it's way worth it to go.
I'm in the process of uploading pictures to facebook. Take a peek when you can.
:)

Here's your quote for the day:
"sir, you are drunk!"
"Yes, ma'am, and you are ugly. And tomorrow, I shall be sober."

Wake Up Jane- Update

The CD is coming- but there has been some delay.
A couple months ago I lost my voice in injury of the vocal cords. We had to turn down some big gigs. We also had to take a break from the studio. We were about halfway through recording our debut album, Wake Up Jane- The 9th of June, when I lost my ability to speak/sing.
Since then I've had speech therapy, to re-learn how to talk, and will be moving on now to singing therapy, shaping and stretching my vocal cords to sing again. We'll start recording our album again in the Spring. We'll also start back up on our gigs at various churches, youth groups, parties, festivals and contests.

Meanwhile, we encourage you to consider buying a Wake Up Jane T-shirt (for more information on the shirts, email me: ashleyGodsgirl@gmail.com). You can also give us your name and we'll put you down on the list for CD purchase if you wish.

Right now, we're selling merchandise, writing new music, learning from each other and spending time together.
Keep us in your prayers, we really do appreciate it.

Wishing you a sunny day,

Ashley

Happiness

This is one of those that I wish I had written myself..

Happiness

Happiness is just outside my window
Would it crash blowing 80-miles an hour?
Or is happiness a little more like knocking
On your door, and you just let it in?

Happiness feels a lot like sorrow
Let it be, you can’t make it come or go
But you are gone- not for good but for now
Gone for now feels a lot like gone for good

Happiness is a firecracker sitting on my headboard
Happiness was never mine to hold
Careful child, light the fuse and get away
‘Cause happiness throws a shower of sparks

Happiness damn near destroys you
Breaks your faith into pieces on the floor

So you tell yourself, that’s probably enough for now
Happiness has a violent roar

Happiness is like the old man told me
Look for it, but you’ll never find it all
But let it go, live your life and leave it
Then one day, wake up and she’ll be home
Home, home, home..
-The Fray

I like Isaac Slade's use of the word "damn" in this context. It fits, more than works, and presents itself as befitting and excellent. Where it fits rightly, there is excellence. Where there is excellence, there is beauty. There is also beauty in honesty, making this song a work of art that touches the soul. I must tell you it's not the same merely being read, it's meant to be accompanied and driven by music. If you get a chance to listen to the song, do. It is a meaningful, passionate, honest ballad.
Excellence. Honesty. Beauty.
Happiness.

Goodnight, All!
